About

Latitudes with Lucy

Hi, my name is Lucy. Thanks for visiting my blog!

The Beginning

I started Latitudes with Lucy in January 2025. I worked in Glacier National Park and studied abroad on Semester at Sea, and people always tell me, “I wish I had known that was an option when I was in college!” It inspired me to get the word out.

Once I started posting about my experiences, I received hundreds of messages asking for advice. How do I apply? What should I pack? My blog grew out of their questions until it took on a life of its own.

What I’m Working on Now

In September 2025, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona, for a job in the study abroad industry. On my days off, I’ve been growing a hiking community and sharing my favorite hikes around Phoenix, and I’m still exploring the national parks.

Statement on Sustainability

Encouraging visitors to explore beyond the most popular sights of a destination is a sustainable tourism practice. Sharing “off the beaten path” trails can have a positive impact on a destination by better distributing traffic. However, it must be done responsibly; the “hidden gems” I share are all officially designated recreation areas. Geotagging “unofficial” hikes or natural sites can put both the visitor and destination at risk. (My “secret” spots in Glacier are for employees only!)

I ask my readers to be respectful and responsible to the destinations I share. Please arrive in search of genuine connection with your destination, and leave it better than you found it (or, in the case of nature, leave no trace!)
